This statute intends to promulgate responsible Tribal response to domestic violence which communicates the intent of the Tribe that domestic violence represents an aberration and danger to the mental, physical and cultural well being of the Tribal community and members. It is also the intent of the Tribe that victims of domestic violence receive the maximum assistance and protection under the law and that perpetrators are held accountable for their conduct. Finally, it is the hopeful intent of the Tribe that, when possible, healing of the wounds inflicted by acts of domestic violence is supported.
